What is it?

Headspace is an App that takes you through guided meditation sessions from as little as 10 mins a day. Suitable for all levels and ages and very user friendly.

So why meditate? What are the benefits of mediation? Could it benefit me?

First of all meditation is not for everyone, you need to be open to the idea of meditation to be able to reap the proven benefits. Meditation does have many benefits for those that practice it daily including; reduced stress, improved concentration, promotes a healthy lifestyle, increases self-awareness, happiness and acceptance, slows aging, benefits the cardiovascular and immune systems, improves sleep, decreases anxiety and improves relationships. These benefits are backed my several scientific studies.

So why try it?

First of all the app is free to download from your app store.

Secondly you get 10 free 10min sessions where you are guided through to help understand and learn the practice. You can replay these 10 free sessions as much as you want.

Thirdly, shall you discover you really enjoy it you can choose from different subscription options to suit your budget and lifestyle. For example you don’t have to be locked in for 1 year, you can pay monthly. When you choose to continue practicing you will receive lots of different meditation packs that you can choose from to benefit you and your lifestyle (i.e. stress, sleep, relationships, sport).

I must admit the thought of learning meditation I was not fussed, however I did choose to commit to it so I could test out the app after a friend told me I should give it a go as she loved it. After the 10 free sessions I haven’t looked back. I did find it hard at first to dedicate 10mins to this as I felt that I could be doing something else within this time, however once you finish the 10mins you feel so calm and relaxed that I become hooked.
